Laser Treatments for Various Skin Problems

Here at Beverly Hills Profiles, we do a lot of facial cosmetic surgery and we have a full laser practice that’s treats a lot of different problems. We get a lot of questions like “What laser is good for what?” and “Which lasers are good for red dilated vessels or brown spots?”.

One of the most important concerns is about color. Patients will want to get evaluated to see what procedures are really necessary. If it’s sun damage then we are talking about resurfacing lasers like the Fraxel or the 1540 Fraxel laser that we like to employ. These lasers also help with superficial melisma that many women develop post pregnancy or just through life.

Another laser that is commonly used is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL.) This type of laser deals with dilated blood vessels and also general redness like flushing from Rosacea and Rosacea related problems. IPL works especially well on color problems such as redness and brown spots. The reason this treatment works is because IPL uses the same wavelength that is in red blood cells and hemoglobin. This doesn’t mean that IPL won’t work on sun damage. The question is of the extent. If the sun damage isn’t deeply entrenched then an IPL or a combination of an IPL and Fraxel Laser will work beautifully.

If you happen to be a person of color then the conversation becomes more complicated. You would need to make sure you are going to someone who knows how to deal with skin of color because different ethnicities have different issues and ratifications making the process even more specialized.
