Say goodbye to your tired, aging eyes and regain a youthful and refreshed look with eyelid surgery at PROFILES Beverly Hills. Our double board-certified facial plastic surgeons, Drs. Litner and Solieman are trusted throughout Los Angeles and beyond to deliver beautiful blepharoplasty results. Together they will assess your case and listen to your goals in order to rejuvenate your appearance.
Droopy eyelids and under-eye bags begin affecting people as early as their late twenties and are often the very first part of the face to show signs of aging. The sagging around the eyes can add several years to your appearance, and is often the single biggest difference between looking younger versus appearing older.
Over one hundred thousand people undergo some kind of eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty each year. Traditional techniques focus on removing excess fat from around the eyes, while more recent techniques add fat to certain areas to increase volume, thereby creating a more youthful appearance.
Unlike most other plastic surgery practices, at Beverly Hills PROFILES our facial plastic surgeons Drs. Solieman and Litner combine these techniques as well as other proven methods to create a customized solution that is best suited for your specific needs.
Before your surgery, we will review your medical history to ensure you are a safe candidate for eyelid surgery. You will be asked questions regarding your vision, tear production, and need for vision correction. You may also need a complete ophthalmologic evaluation to check for these issues.
Drs. Solieman and Litner will also review all the details of your procedure with you and provide specific instructions on preparing for your eyelid surgery. This includes guidelines for eating and drinking, vitamin and medication intake, smoking, and aftercare. Please arrange a ride
home from our office after your procedure since you can return home the same day, but should not drive yourself.
At Beverly Hills PROFILES, eyelid lifts can be done using local anesthesia, IV sedation, or general anesthesia when combined with other procedures. We have found that most of our patients comfortably tolerate upper blepharoplasty surgery under local anesthesia, which numbs the eye area. While you will be awake during your eyelid surgery, you will be relaxed and won’t feel any pain. Occasionally, we may also use oral or intravenous sedation together with local anesthesia. However, we typically recommend general anesthesia for patients interested in lower blepharoplasty (with or without fat injection).
When doing sedation or anesthesia we only use board-certified anesthesiologists for our surgeries. You will have a chance to meet with the anesthesiologist before your procedure and you will have the opportunity to voice any questions or concerns.
To shorten the recovery period and minimize discomfort as much as possible, our Beverly Hills blepharoplasty experts assess each patient individually and design a customized aftercare plan. Our patients are generally able to return home on the day of surgery. Most patients report little to no pain, but pain medication will be provided to you for the first night and the following days if necessary.
Drs. Solieman and Litner will check on you during your first night after surgery and will see you at our Beverly Hills office the following day to review the results. You will be given a list of activities to avoid for the first several weeks while your eyes fully heal. Your stitches will be removed after about one week.
All of your follow-up appointments will be scheduled before your surgery so that you do not have to worry about making appointments afterward. Because we at Beverly Hills PROFILES are deeply committed to your ongoing well-being, we will continue to follow your post-operative condition for years after your eyelid surgery.

Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic surgery that involves reshaping the eyelids to improve the appearance of the eyes and help make them look more youthful. It can be used to reduce puffiness, sagging skin and wrinkles around the eyes, improve vision by removing excess fat or skin from upper or lower eyelids, and enhance facial symmetry.
Eyelid surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, so you can go home the same day the procedure is performed. The blepharoplasty recovery period is different for each patient, but it may last anywhere between 7 and 14 days or longer.
Although the procedure may be performed under a combination of sedation and anesthesia, blepharoplasty surgery is not considered a major operation. Like all surgical procedures, there are risks involved, albeit not as severe as other cosmetic surgeries.
There is a level of discomfort associated with blepharoplasty surgery, but the pain is normally controlled and well-tolerated with over-the-counter analgesics. Drs. Litner and Solieman will create a custom recovery plan that will address pain and other common side effects that occur after surgery.
Blepharoplasty is generally considered to be a long-lasting procedure with results lasting anywhere between five and 10 years. While individual results may vary based on factors such as age and lifestyle habits like smoking and sun exposure, most patients experience lasting results that can keep their eyes looking youthful for many years after surgery.
Generally speaking, blepharoplasty is not covered by insurance since it is considered a cosmetic procedure. However, in some cases, insurance may cover part of the cost if you have a medical condition that is causing your vision to be impaired due to excess skin on your upper lids or due to drooping lower lids. We do have financing options available through reputable financing companies.
